The Cut Spending Now tour spent three days in Florida this week. Beginning in the panhandle on Monday, in Ft. Walton Beach, activists gathered to express their frustration with the government’s spending problem. Later that day, the tour stopped in Jacksonville, FL.

Tuesday was spent with the patriots of Port Orange in the morning and Orlando in the evening. The message was loud and clear at each of these stops. Margie Patchett, Founder and Executive Director of Volusia Tax Reform shared her inspiring story in Port Orange motivating others to keep up the fight to take our country back. In Orlando, Grant Maloy, Co-Chair of Center Right Coalition of Orlando, discussed the amount of tax-payer dollars used for unnecessary government departments.

The tour wrapped up in West Palm Beach where, in spite of some rainy weather, there were representatives and members from some terrific local patriot organizations as well as the Chairman of the Republican Party of Palm Beach County.

After touring the sunshine state with a total of five stops, and spreading the message that Washington needs to Cut Spending Now, one thing is for sure- Floridians are fed up! It’s the spending, stupid!

Americans for Prosperity’s Cut Spending Now tour had two great stops in Memphis, TN and Jonesboro, AR on Saturday. What made them great? The dedicated people that showed up with friends and family because they are tired of the continued generational debt Washington is placing us in.

The fabulous restaurant Kooky Canuck was the stop in Memphis. We were thrilled that proprietor, Shawn Danko, opened his doors to us in an effort to spread a fiscally responsible message to Memphis and the surrounding areas.

While the River City brought an energizing start to the day, Jonesboro was filled with fired up activists. Many activists came out in force to the Chick-fil-A on Stadium Boulevard. They signed petitions, picked out some of the awesome Cut Spending Now t-shirts, and gathered information that will be used to educate both themselves and friends/family.

Overall we had two eventful stops in Northeast Arkansas and Western Tennessee. As the Cut Spending Now tour continues across country we will continue to work with local individuals to spread and protect freedom and prosperity.

AFP’s Cut Spending Now tour rolled through Colorado Tuesday, making three stops in the Front Range cities of ...

AFP’s Cut Spending Now tour rolled through Colorado Tuesday, making three stops in the Front Range cities of Colorado Springs, Highlands Ranch and Loveland before heading east, across the Great Plains, on its way to a November date with the Congressional Supercommittee.

All the rallies held and petitions gathered – you can still sign it online! — during the cross-country trip are intended to help convince Supercommittee members that cutting lard from the bloated federal government and instituting real budget reform should be the top priority, not squeezing financially stressed Americans for new revenue. Americans are in no mood to surrender more of their hard-earned dollars to Washington, judging from the passion and sentiments seen and heard at the events.

The day began early, as the first rays of sunlight were warming the face of Pikes Peak, but the autumn chill couldn’t cool the enthusiasm of the roughly 80 attendees who heard KVOR Radio personalities Ed Jones, Richard Randall and Jeff Crank – AFP-Colorado’s state director – stress how great the dangers are, to our liberties and economy, of continued runaway spending and regulating in Washington. Because conservatives can’t just talk in generalities about budget reform, but need to offer specific recommendations, Crank detailed some of the spending cuts proposed in an AFP white paper. Each item was greeted with enthusiastic applause.

Crank said those who are standing up now, demanding the return of fiscal sanity, would be remembered by their children and grandchildren for their efforts to save the country. Americans who survived The Great Depression and won World War II didn’t think of themselves as heroes, said Crank. They were just average Americans, doing what they had to do to save the country. And this generation of Americans must also rise to the occasion, said Crank, by curbing excessive government, warding-off attacks on free enterprise and restoring The U.S. Constitution to its place of honor and prominence.

Next stop was a noon rally in the Denver suburb of Highlands Ranch, where Crank, Independence Institute President John Caldara and Andy Merritt, district director for U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman, reiterated the need for fiscal discipline and encouraged attendees to stay involved and recruit even more friends and neighbors to the cause of liberty.

The day ended in Loveland, Colorado, with perhaps the largest gathering of all, of close to 100 people, thanks to the participation of the local 9/12 group, which is still going strong. The sun setting over the mountains offered a perfect bookend to a day of events that began at sunrise. Crank, State Sen. Kevin Lundberg and Ken Clark of Grassroots Radio Colorado did the speaking honors, while attendees signed petitions.

But this long but invigorating day wasn’t yet over, the Cut Spending Now tour was heading for a nighttime drive to Nebraska, where the next day’s Cut Spending Now rally was scheduled.

The Cut Spending Now tour came to Lincoln and Omaha, Nebraska where hundreds of activists came out to make their voice heard against the tax and spend culture in Washington. While liberals continue to fight for increased spending, fiscally-minded citizens across the country and in Nebraska continue to call for Washington to tighten its belt and for an end to the draconian regulations that allow government to pick the economic winners and losers in the private sector.

The Cut Spending Now tour will continue to make its way across the country, ending with a massive rally in Washington, D.C. on November 5th. See pictures from our Nebraska stops below.

This past weekend our Cut Spending Now tour made stops in Prescott, Arizona and Albuquerque, New Mexico. Fired up grassroots activists from across the southwest came out tell Washington to stop the budget gimmicks and cut spending now.

Washington has continued to borrow and spend at a pace that is unsustainable.

Grassroots Tour Kicks Off in Washington State Home of Co-Chair of Super Committee

ARLINGTON, VA – The premiere grassroots mobilizing group, Americans for Prosperity, will launch its Cut Spending Now Tour on October 4th in Washington State, home of Super Committee co-chairman Sen. Patty Murray, and will move across the country before arriving on November 5th at the national Defending the American Dream Summit in Washington, DC. The tour serves as a call to action for AFP’s 1.8 million activists and Americans from all walks to life to demand that Congress finally cut spending while bringing about fundamental budget reforms that reduce the size of government. The tour also reminds President Obama that picking the economy’s winners and losers is one reason unemployment is so high and our economy so weak under this administration.

“Cut Spending Now is launching in a crucial place and at a crucial time,” said Tim Phillips, President of Americans for Prosperity. “While President Obama continues to push his second Stimulus boondoggle Americans continue to look for jobs and the economy continues to flounder. It is up to Americans to make sure Congress and the debt super committee rein in the president’s spending habits.”

“We are kicking off our tour in Sen. Patty Murray’s home state of Washington to remind her that America needs her to put aside the fact that she’s chair of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and act responsibly as co-chair of the spending super-committee. We hope that all super-committee members get the message that after years of out-of-control government spending, it’s time for Washington, D.C. to tighten its belt.”

“This tour is all about sending a message to our president and to Congress. We will be giving our activists the tools they need to make their voices heard and to tell our government that we need to cut spending now. AFP has grown to over 1.8 million members by advancing the common sense idea that free-markets will create jobs while government can only place a burden on the economy.

The tour is confirmed to go through Washington State, Oregon, California, Colorado, Missouri, Arkansas, Virginia, North Carolina and other key states before arriving in Washington, DC.

In addition to having speakers and displays at each stop, activists will have the opportunity to sign the Cut Spending Now petition, available online here, to tell Washington to cut spending now and restore the basic principles of economic freedom that will revive American growth and create jobs.
